Ping Pong Team Competitive Head Coach Job Description
Position Title: Ping Pong Team Competitive Head Coach
Reports To: DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Position Summary: The Ping Pong head coach will oversee all operations of the Varsity Ping Pong Team and Ping Pong Club. They will supervise students during all practices and competitions. They will also handle all logistical aspects of the setting up matches and competitions.
Essential Functions: * Provide leadership and direction for Ping Pong Team Competitive offering guidance and support to club members. * Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages collaboration, respect, and camaraderie. * Serve as a mentor and positive role model for club members, promoting personal growth and development. * Encourage academic excellence and reinforce the importance of balancing academics with extracurricular activities. * Learn and stay current with all club by-laws and regulations * Publicize and celebrate student achievements and student growth to the school community * Ensure adherence to school policies, rules, and regulations during all club activities. * Prioritize the safety and well-being of club members during practices, competitions, and travel.
* Maintain open and effective communication with club members, school administration, and parents/guardians. * Conduct regular practice sessions to focus on skill development and improve individual and team performance. [reword/remove for non-competing clubs] * Organize, coordinate, and supervise club activities, events, and competitions. * Maintain up-to-date roster information in the student information system * Record attendance for all practices, competitions, and all other meetings in student information system * Maintain all club/team documents in a single folder with shared access to the direct supervisor * Manage team logistics, including scheduling, equipment, supervision, and transportation for off-site events. * Provide regular updates on club activities, progress, and upcoming events. * Manage all club/team activity funds
* Delegate roles and responsibilities for assistant coaches/stipend holders * Evaluate assistant coaches/stipend holders * Recruit and hire assistant coaches/stipend holders
Goals of the Club: The goal of Ping Pong Club and Varsity Ping Pong is to provide students with an opportunity to explore their interest in ping pong and compete at a high level.
Calendar: * Competitive Season: November through February * Club Season: August - May
Hours Per Week: * 6- 9 hours per week for meetings not including preparation for events. * Tri-Weekly meetings (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) 3:30 pm to 6pm and other scheduled matches
Required Events/Competitions: * Host multiple HOME tournaments (approximately 4 hours each) * Participate in multiple AWAY tournaments (approximately 5 hours with travel) * Optional: Host for State Tournament (approximately 8 hours)
