The primary functions of an A Machinist are to set up all usual types of machine and hand tools common to the trade including but not limited to lathes, saws, planers, shapers, grinders, lubricants, micrometers and safety equipment while working with all types of material processed by ATI. Swing shift hours 4 pm - 12 am Monday - Friday.. Set up and operate machines which determines size, shape and finish of the product. Qualified candidate will have the ability to reason through problems involving set up and operation of moderately complex equipment. Use of considerable judgement is required.

• Essential Functions:

  • Receives instructions from supervisor and reviews with off-going machine operator all material in-process. Continues processing materials according to standard operating procedures, travel orders, order specifications, instructions, etc. Proceeds on own initiative following standard operating instructions and procedures.
  • Selects tooling in accordance to the machinability of the material and at times grinds tooling for special applications.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools, adjusting stops, feeds and speeds for efficient machining.
  • Machines parts or material to total tolerances of greater than .010", and to any finish requirement.
  • Maintains constant identity of material throughout operations. Posts necessary data to operating reports and/or production reports and travel orders.
  • Transfers material to next operation as determined by operating procedures.
  • Reports all malfunctioning equipment, unusual incidents, operating errors or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
  • Performs minor maintenance on equipment such as oiling, greasing, lubricating, replacing, grinding stones, replacing or adjusting cooling apparatus, replacing small parts, nuts, bolts, etc.
  • Follows exactly all rules and policies established to avoid cross contamination.
  • Utilizes the production time to best advantage in order to obtain maximum efficiency of equipment and own time.
  • Moderate attention and care required to avoid damage to machine tools. Damage tradesman's tools by dropping, carelessness, improper use.
  • Perform tradesman's work such as operations of complex machine tools.
  • Ordinary care and attention required to prevent injury to others. Operate machine tools where others are occasionally exposed. Occasional crane hooking.
  • Maintains required work records.
  • Set up and operate machines having a variety of detail requiring frequent checking and adjusting to determinate size, shape, finish or physical properties of product.
  • Close mental or visual application required for performing tradesman's work involving tolerances of greater than .010" requiring close coordination or fine adjustment.
  • Moderate physical exertion. Handle medium weight materials.
  • Maintains work areas in clean, safe and orderly manner. Observes all safety rules.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have the following machining courses
  • Manufacturing Process I
  • Manufacturing Process II
• Must have minimum of 12 months on the job training (OJT) as a Machinist
