Job Summary:

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
Act as a primary reviewer for all undergraduate applications and makes admission decision determination based on University admission requirements. Additionally, upon admission decision, the Admissions and Records Representative reviews and processes all transfer credit from other colleges, universities or exam assessments, such as AP, CLEP, IB and Dantes. Works primarily in our Slate admission system as well as Banner, the University's ERP system of record.

Job Description:

  • Review and process admission decisions for all undergraduate admission student types. Enter proposed admission decision into Slate via the review form, including adding appropriate cohorts and attributes. Update Slate schools data with GPAs and class ranks, use Slate GPA calculator to calculate cumulative GPA to determine admission decision.

  • Process transfer credit evaluations in Banner, utilizing the degree audit, articulation guides, and best practices. Update Banner data pertaining to school information, such as degree received, dates received, transcript GPA, adding/removing holds (where appropriate). Verify transfer credit accuracy by viewing degree audit in NEIUport. Review and process exam equivalencies (if applicable) for AP, CLEP,

  • Review, research, and process re-evaluation requests, update requests, and complete high school subject requirement sheets. Re-evaluation requests and updates require review of entire academic history to ensure no duplication of transfer credits, and may require removing transfer credits to remain at or below transfer credit hour capacity. Process and/or update transfer credit in Banner and verify degree audit is correct via NEIUport. Document research in microfilm is required for former students admitted via previous systems. High school subject requirements entered into Banner.

  • Assisting with updating and maintaining application checklists and materials for applications processed; receiving, processing and responding to application deferral requests (electronic, emailed, paper)

  • Reviewing, researching and responding to in-progress applicants regarding missing documents; assisting with processing admission documents, such as transcripts, test scores, recommendations, etc., including imaging documents and logging documents into Slate, Banner and miscellaneous databases

  • Correspond with applicants regarding admissions application and supporting documents, reviewing and responding to emails from the admissions departmental email account; receive and return phone calls from applicants or prospective students or NEIU faculty and staff and provide assistance as it relates to admissions operations, or refer caller with warm hand-off to respective departments.

  • Utilize applicant data lists within Slate perform daily operations, such as duplicate detection merges, pending assignments, decision review queue, verification of uploaded documents, and email/communication lists.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:

A. course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)

  • 60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months)

  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)

B. work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience.

Salary: $18.00/Hour

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision benefits, generous time off plans, and participation in the State Universities Retirement System.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Hours may vary depending on departmental needs)
