Covia is looking for a dynamic Engineering Manager who will have a positive impact on the Engineering & Operations teams at our Wedron, IL facility. As an Engineering Manager, you will provide mineral processing design, analysis and engineering services to Operations and perform process optimization studies to decrease cost, improve yield, recovery, and quality. You will also have accountability for the reliability of Covia's processing equipment by partnering with plant leadership and utilizing data from multiple sources to improve operating outcomes.

The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:

  • Working with site leadership to support Covia's Operations Management System with objectives that include:
    • Improving Operations & Maintenance work effectiveness and efficiencies
    • Providing the tools and approaches needed by teams to deliver
    • Assisting to identify systems to support equipment availability and loss prevention
  • Ensure EHS compliance and adherence to internal standards for safe and sustainable operations.
  • Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
  • Leads teams in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
  • Oversees project logistics and resource allocation.
  • Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
  • Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.
  • Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
  • Determine best maintenance practices for plant specific pieces of equipment and/or equipment types.
  • Work with site personnel to implement and maintain Condition-based /Predictive maintenance strategies for our critical equipment classes.
  • Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success.
  • Maintains high level expertise in their field or sector.
  • Assures that processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines.
  • Collaborates with other team leaders and departments.
  • Forges and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers.
  • Travel Requirements 10%, mainly for training and company-wide meetings
  • Collaborate with cross functional and interdependent departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years' professional experience in engineering. Network related certifications are strongly desired Bachelor's or equivalent degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in mineral processing, bulk material handling systems, or heavy industry
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with others required including process operations, technical specialists, site operators, contractors, supply chain and other functions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of position required
  • A passion for innovative concepts that can transform the business
