Description:

The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and UI Health are seeking a Director of Donor Acquisition and Engagement. This role involves collaborating closely with the Executive Director across various areas, including annual giving, digital fundraising, stewardship, Advancement communications, and donor acquisition. These efforts span multiple units within the UI College of Medicine, UI Cancer Center, UI Hospital and Clinics, and Mile Square Health Center.

UI Health is a robust system with a $2.5 billion budget, comprising seven health science colleges, a major teaching hospital, a substantial community-based healthcare network, top-ranked primary and specialty clinics, and a cancer center. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, Donor Acquisition and Engagement to implement, continuously evaluate, and refine a multichannel donor engagement strategy, using data-based insights to increase retention and reactivation across audience segments.
  • Work with the Executive Director, Director of Digital, and UI Foundation to prepare and track Advancement mass communications across health units. Build, align, maintain, and execute on calendars of communication for each health unit, segmenting audiences and versioning materials as needed to deliver a personalized and meaningful donor and alumni experience.
  • Produce compelling, donor-centric printed and digital communications in line with brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in communications departments across units to ensure that supporter journeys are compelling and cohesive, and that fundraising and engagement activity is aligned with the units' marketing strategies.
  • Source raw content - including stories, statistics, photography, and video - as needed to support Advancement mass communication objectives.
  • Contribute to the analysis and evaluation of existing revenue channel performance. Support the Director of Digital and other team members in the creation, testing, and refinement of new models that leverage emerging digital platforms, channels, and campaigns.
  • Coordinate with the UI Foundation to pull lists, prepare reports, and ensure good data hygiene.
  • Track donor communications and stewardship activities in the constituent tracking database.
  • Assist in the monitoring of annual fund performance, working closely with the Executive Director to build, maintain, and evaluate a KPI dashboard.
  • Assist with the development and management of giving societies and members.
  • Support the management of the Donor Acquisition and Engagement budget.
  • Provide staff leadership at events or meetings as required.
  • Contribute to special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum eight years of relevant and progressive work experience in individual giving, annual fund, constituent relations, non-profit direct mail or mass audience marketing.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent MS Word and Excel skills; competency using PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; ability to understand and adhere to house style and brand guidelines
  • Experience producing donor-centric communications and ability to translate complex information into laymen's terms.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing individual giving and annual fund growth strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of professionals and other audiences in writing, on the phone, and in person.
  • Experience utilizing fundraising database- facility with raw data, report building, and trend analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Some budget management experience.
  • A mix of analytical and creative abilities; capable of executing both the analysis process and the creative development process.
  • Design, layout, and pagination skills. Facility with InDesign or other design software a plus.
