We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Senior Attorney on our AMA Insurance team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

As a Senior Attorney, you will provides legal counsel to the AMA Insurance business unit as assigned. Prepares and negotiates legal documents, including appropriate agreements and related documentation. Assures that AMA Insurance complies with insurance, privacy, and other applicable statutes and regulations so that AMA Insurance meets legal requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide legal counsel to the AMA Insurance business unit

  • * Support the General Counsel to provide legal counsel to the AMA Insurance business unit on a variety of legal issues, including:
  • o legal research
  • o drafting and reviewing a wide variety of business agreements and related documentation supporting the AMA Insurance's activities
  • o audits and regulatory filings
  • o disputes and litigation pleadings
  • * Contribute to the assessment of legal and business risk of various courses of action to support AMA Insurance initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • * Provide assistance to General Counsel on complex legal issues requested.

Provide attorney support for AMA Insurance marketing, licensing, administrative operations (including claims), and privacy activities

  • Serve as legal counsel by providing objective, thorough, timely and well-researched legal advice to management on complex legal issues.
  • Negotiate, draft and finalize contracts.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

1. J.D. from an accredited law school.

2. Licensed to practice law in Illinois (or the ability to receive an Illinois bar license under Rule 705 or Rule 716 within 6 months of hire).

3. Minimum 5 years of experience as an attorney, preferably 2 years' experience in a large firm

4. Broad experience in all of the following areas or extensive experience in one or two of the areas: contracts, litigation, privacy, and insurance.

5. Outstanding analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on practical outcomes.

6. Superior interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to collaborate well with members of the team and interact well with clients to build trusting relationships.

7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate confidently and navigate conflicts in a constructive manner.

8. Strong research skills, and the ability to identify proactively legal issues impacting the Company.

9. The ability to think creatively and where applicable the ability to present multiple solutions with varying degrees of risk to a given legal problem and to succinctly explain each solution and the corresponding risk mitigation the solution provides.

10. Some travel may be required.
