Location: Gurnee, IL

Pay: $60,000-$90,000 / year, based on experience

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Service Director, the Service Training Academy Manager is directly accountable for the implementation and continuous improvement of all facets of the JX Training Academy. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our training programs align with company values and objectives, providing a platform for the development of our team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Honor Commitments:

  • Manage maintenance and upkeep of equipment and the facility, ensuring a conducive learning environment.

  • Work with management to recommend necessary maintenance and repairs, honoring commitments to facility functionality.

  • Supervise training center trainers, managing their effectiveness and making suggestions to management on staff levels and other support.

Create Positive Experiences:

  • Coordinate meals and lodging for attending students, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming experience.

  • Demonstrate correct procedures and processes according to company training guidelines, fostering a positive learning environment.

Foster Lifelong Learning:

  • Instruct technicians on service, safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of Class 5 - 8 vehicles, creating an outline, handouts, and testing.

  • Develop and monitor course curriculum, adapting content to promote ongoing learning and skill development.

  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to integrate new information into training programs, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Exhibit Pioneering Spirit:

  • Develop and write innovative training programs including outline, text, handouts, tests. Incorporating new technologies and methodologies to enhance learning outcomes.

  • Design laboratory exercises, including remote/online training sessions.

  • Coordinate training room usage with internal departments, leveraging resources efficiently to pioneer collaborative learning initiatives.

Demonstrate Good Stewardship:

  • Ensure program compliance with OE Trainer requirements and vendor suggestions, demonstrating stewardship of industry standards.

  • Work with local and regional management teams to schedule training, responsibly managing resources to optimize training effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, additional trade school training preferred.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of related heavy-duty truck service/repair experience preferred.

  • Mechanical/Technical and refinishing knowledge required.

  • Experience teaching, educating, leading, managing, and/or mentoring entry-level Technicians required.

  • Intermediate computer skills required.

  • Excellent listening and communication skills required.

  • Must be comfortable teaching/presenting in front of classes of all sizes.

  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • A CDL is required, and/or the ability to obtain one within twelve (12) months of employment.

Education
Technical/other training of Diesel Technology (preferred)

Experience
5 - 7 years: Heavy-duty truck service/repair experience (preferred)
