Revenue Litigation Division
The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel in its Revenue Litigation Division. The Revenue Litigation Division defends tax assessments in the City's Department of Administrative Hearings and litigates actions in state and federal court concerning the validity of various taxes and other complex commercial litigation matters having revenue implications for the City. The Division also represents the City's interest in commercial property tax disputes, including property tax valuation appeals and property tax rate objections. In addition to handling litigation matters, the Division drafts and comments on legislation concerning taxes and other revenue measures; drafts tax rulings and opinion letters; and advises other City departments, including the Department of Finance, the Budget Office and the Mayor's Office on taxes and other revenue-related issues.

Qualifications
Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree and admission to the Illinois Bar (or eligible for admission on motion to the Illinois Bar pursuant to Illinois Supreme Court Rule 705).

This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
