Responsibilities
Summary:

The Student Activities Specialist provides administrative support to the Student Life Coordinator and supports student life activities, including but not limited to assisting with virtual and on campus activities and event set-up/take-down, event logistics, marketing of events, operating social Student Life social media accounts, researching neighboring colleges/universities current programs/activities. This role also supports the Student Activities Board and Commuter Assistants programs, events, activities, and goals.

Job Requirements:
  • Work with the Student Life Coordinator to design a plan that best fits with the student's career goals and interests (Career and Self Development)
  • Support Student Life through program advisement, training, and student leadership development
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, budgeting, supervision, and assessment of student activity programs, services, and events within Student Life (Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Communication, and Leadership)
  • Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating student activity/ campus life programs, campus events, and celebrations as assigned
  • Attend trainings and workshops offered by the Res. Ed and Student Life Department (Leadership and Teamwork)
  • Assist in the delivery of Welcome Week/Weekend, Homecoming Week, Transfer Orientations, Student Involvement Fairs, and more
  • Assist in All Staff coverage and supervision of major university events. Included: Welcome Week/Weekend, Homecoming Week, Transfer Orientations, Student Involvement Fair, and more (Leadership)
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and selecting Orientation Board Leaders, Student Activities Board members, and Commuter Assistants (Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Communication, and Leadership)
  • Work on all necessary program arrangements for space, publicity, special requirements of performers, and other program needs
  • Provide on-site supervision of events to oversee facilities use, arrangements, admission, and compliance with policies and to assist in problem resolution (Leadership)
  • Develop initiatives and work collaboratively with other staff to assist students in their connection and involvement with activities, organizations, and small groups
  • Maintain information about upcoming events on the Student Life social media platforms (Technology)
  • Assist with the facilitation of Greek Life Organizations
  • Research current events, activities, and programs art similar universities that can be implemented at the University of St. Francis (Critical Thinking)
  • Advise and manage undergraduate student leaders (i.e. Orientation Leaders)
  • Encourage diverse student involvement by creating diverse and inclusion marketing materials and performing outreach to all students (Equity & Inclusion)
  • Oversee Student Life Social Media accounts
  • Co-Advise the Student Activities Board and Commuter Assistants
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned
