Stanley Consultants, Inc is currently seeking a Client Service Manager (Business Development) in Transportation for our Chicago, Illinois office with future potential to grow into the Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin markets. This position leads the overall business development efforts to sell our engineering, construction management, and project management expertise to win work to provide professional engineering services on state and local roads, collectors and arterial streets and highway (rural and interstate systems) type projects. These include; corridor development and environmental impact studies, right-of-way layout, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final design, preparation of construction documents, cost estimates, construction management, project scheduling, and overall project management.

Essential duties include:

  • Serve as Stanley Consultants key contact and service manager to our clients in the Illinois transportation market.
  • Provide overall leadership for the transportation team in the Chicago office.
  • Lead the development of strategic business and client plans for the Illinois transportation market.
  • Defend and increase market share with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA).
  • Defend and increase market share with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
  • Defend and increase market share with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT).
  • Identify opportunities in the Illinois transportation market.
  • Add, maintain, and update the Transportation Market sales pipeline with Illinois transportation market opportunities.
  • Maintain and update sales opportunities in the CRM database and the opportunity report.
  • Evaluate client needs, identify requirements, and provide clients with value added solutions.
  • Lead the Go/No-go decision process on potential project opportunities to pursue.
  • Lead the development of pursuit strategies for project opportunities with ISTHA, IDOT, and CDOT.
  • Develop teaming opportunities with strategic partners to pursue work with ISTHA, IDOT, and CDOT.
  • Leader of transportation sales in the Illinois transportation market to meet annual sales goal.
  • Identify and bring on necessary and key talent to the Chicago transportation team.
  • Participate in project scoping, fee estimating, proposal preparation, interviews, and negotiations.
  • Oversee performance of projects to clients and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Provide guidance and oversight of the office transportation project managers for successful project delivery to clients.
  • Serve as technical liaison to clients on projects and coordinate technical efforts within discipline areas.
  • Preparation of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, and environmental studies and designs for projects.
  • Definition and review of project scopes, determine work procedures/sequences, and develop schedules, budgets, staffing, sub consultant involvement, and progress billings.
  • Formation of project teams to make sure that responsibilities are assigned and the execution of tasks are begun and completed according to schedule.
  • Submission of documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance review and obtain permits required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Established relationships with ISTHA, IDOT, CDOT, and other local municipal clients
  • Experience with ISTHA, IDOT, and CDOT design methods, plans, standards, and specifications
  • Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
  • Working knowledge of design software used to prepare engineering and design documents
  • Local market knowledge
  • Illinois Professional Engineer license preferred

Base Compensation: $150,000 - $240,000
