Program Overview
Designed for rising college seniors of all backgrounds and majors, the PEAK6 2021 Product Management internship is a highly engaging summer program that will develop your product management and professional skills.
This internship is based out of our Chicago trading firm and has the ability to be conducted virtually depending on COVID-19 restrictions. You'll work with a group of Product Managers, Engineering Teams, and Designers delivering web-based applications that power the robust PEAK6 trading platform. Our goal is to enable our end users (traders and trading support teams) to excel in service to our customers. You can expect to become a resource regarding our product strategy, roadmap and understand product goals and objectives that support trading activity.

We are PEAK6, a leading investment firm. You'll find us headquartered in the historic Chicago Board of Trade building, where we first opened our doors in 1997. It's been over 20 years since we were one of the first firms to develop sophisticated proprietary technology to use in our trading business. Today, we continue to leverage our technical ingenuity and operational excellence across several investment areas, spanning early-to-mid stage growth capital, operational control, trading, and e-sports, while always proving value to the customer. Throughout the years, we've built and operated several financial technology firms, and we continue to evolve. You'll find a bit of everything here, and we're always looking to take on new endeavors.
Due to the unprecedented situation of COVID-19, PEAK6 has decided to protect our current and future employees by managing our business remotely. This is inclusive of interviewing, onboarding and each role day-to-day. Please consider that our roles will not be remote long-term and will return to an office setting once we're safe to do so following the guidance of local health authorities and the CDC.

What you'll do all day
- Learn and comprehend product prioritization and definition for PEAK6 Capital Management Products
- Gain an understanding of markets, competition and customer/user requirements in depth
- Build relationships with stakeholders and teams to help influence & drive successful outcomes
- Partner with Engineering team to help aid delivery
- Seek and curate a list of feedback and ideas for products
- Influence opportunities from discovery process to define and measure KPIs that evaluate performance of product suite against targeted outcomes
- Help manage the product backlog
- Test and validate features and product suite on an agile cadence
- Be mentored by a member of the team to help you reach your full potential
What you need to succeed
- In pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree graduating between December 2021 and June 2022
- Exceptional communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Familiarity with product management practices
- Familiarity tracking and reporting on product performance metrics
- Interest in learning technologies that power our product solutions
- Interest in Trading & Financial industry is a bonus but not required
- Adherence to strict compliance policies and software development procedures
